How We Travel
Every one of our small group experiences is handpicked and personally curated. Many are to places we know and love, and have deep connections to. Others are new discoveries. They all share an awesome connection to nature and unique cultures. We hope you never find any of them on a Top 10 Travel Checklist.
Our guiding principles
All too often, travel does more harm than good. Our goal is to contribute to protecting the pristine and unique nature of the places we visit, and the cultures and communities we engage with. That’s why we started karibu, and we believe that if done right, we can make a difference.

Travel Through the Lens of a Journalist
A journalist for 20 years, karibu founder Andrea Mandel-Campbell interviewed presidents and guerillas from Argentina to Mexico, hung out of helicopters in Honduras and spent time with Cuban dissidents. Whether reporting from a corporate HQ in Hong Kong or an Indigenous reserve in northern Canada, she has always strived to find those unique stories that reveal something unexpected and real.
She started karibu to share a deeper kind of travel experience. One that digs below the surface, taking you to unexpected places and introducing you to people you would not otherwise meet.
