An Unforgettable Itinerary

South Luangwa National Park

5

Description

Accommodations

6 Nights, 2 Camps

Birthplace of Africa’s original walking safari, the South Luangwa National Park is renowned for its rich floodplains and ever-changing oxbow lagoons that are a magnet for a diversity of wildlife, from huge herds of buffalo and the endemic Thornicroft giraffe to some of Africa’s largest populations of leopard and lion. This itinerary takes you to more secluded areas of the park, where you can enjoy a truly immersive experience without traveling huge distances.

The consummate Zambia bush lodge experience, this itinerary combines stays at two different camps, with the option of a thrilling sleep-out under the stars, for a total of 6 nights. The camps are ideally located beside lagoons and riverbeds filled with wildlife and are within two to four hours’ walk of each other. Chosen for their intimacy and organic bush camp elegance, the camps boast three to five beautifully rendered thatched rooms or tented chalets and an invigorating open-air ambience.

Lower Zambezi National Park

Description

Accommodations

4 Nights

Unlike any other park in Africa, the Lower Zambezi National Park offers a unique river safari experience. Defined by the breathtaking Zambezi River, one of the longest and largest in Africa, its multitude of islands afford amazing wildlife viewing, from herds of elephants fording the waters, to Africa’s highest concentration of hippos. And then there is the world-class catch-and-release tiger fishing and sunset river cruises. Off the water, the wildlife-rich park is known for its majestic winterthorn forests and baobab trees, and with relatively few camps in the area, it offers an intimate safari experience.

Chosen for its phenomenal location at the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi rivers at the edge of the Lower Zambezi National Park, our lodge offers a front row seat to a variety of wildlife river crossings. With 8 comfortable, classic tents, the lodge also offers sleep-outs, bush lunches with panoramic views of the valley and a wildlife hide for photographers and nocturnal wildlife spotting. We arrange a special visit to an anti-poaching unit that is key to ongoing conservation efforts in the Park.

Livingstone and Victoria Falls

Description

Accommodations

2 Nights

One of Africa’s epic landmarks and one of the world’s Seven Natural Wonders, the Victoria Falls remain as breathtaking as when explorer David Livingstone first laid eyes on them in 1855. We walk through the mist along the Knife Edge Bridge overlooking the primordial gorge, take a swim in the Devil’s Pool at the top of the falls and lunch at the renowned Elephant Café, an elephant sanctuary and five-star organic farm-to-table dining experience.

After days out on safari, you are welcomed to this very classic Zambian-style lodge with just seven quaint thatched cottages set amongst a lush garden on the banks of the Zambezi River. Each cozy cottage boasts a private veranda, ideal for a relaxing morning coffee. The family-run lodge has a lounge, restaurant, terraced patio, pools and a deck for bird-watching by the river.

Lusaka, Zambia’s capital

Description

Accommodations

2 Nights

For a truly complete experience of Zambia, we recommend a stop in the capital of Lusaka. We organize a special behind-the-scenes visit to a baby elephant orphanage just outside the city and take you to an eclectic local art gallery, café and gem shop (Zambia is a major producer of emeralds, amethyst, aquamarine and other gems). There’s also the option to take a guided walk through a local community and learn about the local way of life.

A chic oasis in the bustling city, our art-inspired boutique hotel is a great compliment to our time on safari.  Enjoy a delicious meal, relax by the pool or at the spa, or sneak in a gym workout in between the day’s activities.
